Brother Hs-70a Manual

Are you doing 4 axis work or plain jane 2d stuff? I am a production shop, and as a result virtually ( all actually ) 2D. For that, all you really need is any 2D CAD program to draw your toolpath, and an old version of BobCAD to help filling in the G01/02/03-s. OTOH, Brother's codes are incredibly simple. I always set my 'tech' outside of the program, only modify some of the settings if and as I need it.

The 50A can use workoffsets, but the implementation - unfortunately - is a little retarded, so I pretty much resort to a G92 call instead. M86 is water/wire/electricity, call absolute G90 mode and then just let it rip on the toolpath. What is Espirit outputting that Brother doesn't like?

Aug 09, 2017 I'm looking at picking up a Brother HS-70A for in-house tooling, fixturing and prototyping work. I know the Brother EDMs are orphans, but it. We have two HS-70A machines and are using MasterCam X8. The post still doesn't do the tech settings correctly but they are simple to edit. The machines are great for the price and we still get support through Agie-Charmilles, for now. (edit) Sample programs: 1.

A couple other things we've found, and maybe someone here has better insight on them than I: 1. Do not put a program stop at a corner intersection. The machine will drop the offset and pick it back up on the following line. You CAN break either of those lines.015'.03' either side of the corner and stop there.

It's still a line-line intersection, but that's what works for us at least. You can stop at line-arc tangents and arc-arc tangents just fine, but not arc-arc, line-arc or line-line intersections, excepting the case that the lines are parallel apparently.

When doing a grease cycle, be VERY careful greasing the Z-axis lead screw. You cannot get them any more and they have a tendency to blow the seal out when you grease them.

We had to replace one, back when you could still get them, and have another rebuilt since. If you look in your manual on the 'Technology Code' page you will find that those tech call-outs are out of the machine library, so they are already in your machine. We have not bothered with saving a custom library. Any tech call-out that begins with 'U1' (ex. U13050109) is already in your machine library.

In the second example above, we are rough cutting a carbide blank with u/v taper r-to-l with a U13050107 rough setting. Stop to remove the scrap, switch to a U13050108 setting for the first skim l-to-r, and then take a second skim pass r-to-l again with a U13050109 tech.
