Hi myaquadome, At a minimum, on this version of Windows (Windows 7), you have DirectX 10. However you may follow the steps below to check for the version of Direct X you have; 1) Open DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking the Start button, typing dxdiag in the search box, and then pressing Enter. 2) Click the System tab, and then, under System Information, check the DirectX version number. Access the link for more information on this; Many sound cards or sound processors come with software that you can use to configure and test sound card settings. You might want to check the information that came with your sound card or computer. Hope this information was helpful.

Has anyone figured out how to fix this for the Steam version of the game? After doing some Googling, it seems the version of DirectX that comes with Bully is broken. The fix I found is to download an up-to-date DirectX 9.0c and replace the broken one in the game directory, but the next step requires you to run setup.exe. Of course, the Steam version does not have a setup executable, so the fix doesn't work. I haven't seen this issue brought up here yet (unless I missed the thread) so I was wondering if there's a fix for the Steam version.

Windows

What Windows version you running? I'm running Windows 7, and this games runs fine on my computer without any problems. But, you might try running Steam and the Bully game's executable on a Windows account with Admin level privileges.

You could also try running the Bully game's executable in a different Windows compatibility mode (Maybe try XP SP3 mode, right-click on the game's EXE file, Properties, and find the Combatibility options). You can download and install DirectX from Microsoft from here: Good luck. Found this post on another forum: Its a very silly error. The directX9 installation files are not complete. If you will go to your bully install folder, you will find a folder named 'dx9' (or something related to directx9, in mine it was dx9 so I will explain using that, you make the necessary changes) there. Now this folder has a lot of files that are required to install directx9 on your PC. You obviously have a higher wersion of directx on your PC as you say, so you don't really need to install it, but the bully setup is so built that it will try to execute the directx setup before it begins installation.

Evrytime it does this, it fails as the files are not complete and setup fails. The solution to this is as follows: Download the 'complete' directx9 package from here Download DirectX 9.0c (Jun 10) -, OR just google directx9 and download from whatever site you like. Make sure it is directx9 that you download and not 10. Name this folder 'Directx9' without the quotes, and paste into the bully install folder. Now cut the dx9 folder and paste it somewhere safe (just in case) Rename the 'Directx9' folder in the bully installation folder to 'dx9' Now run the setup.exe Keep pressing 'next' or 'proceed' or whatever and after a certain point, you will get a 'command line error'. Just press OK, setup will continue and bully will be installed.

Converters

If this was successful, just delete the dx9 folder you saved in the safe place or else replace it and try a different strategy. In your case, maybe replace the DirectX folder/files you download, replacing the folder at where Bully in installed on your computer; Example path may be like: C: Steam Steamapps common Bully Scholatship Edition DirectX And within the DirectX folder run the 'DXSetup.exe' file. Well, good luck.
