If you are getting a lot of blank pages that usually indicates you have set the report width greater than the page margins whether there are any controls in the overflow or not. Sometimes it is something as simple as a horizontal line being 8.1 inches wide on paper 8.5 inches wide with 0.25 inch margins. That extra 0.1 bleeds over to a new page.
