Indica Vista Quadrajet Problem

Posted on  by admin

Hi, I have a Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet 2010. Mileage is 70000 kms. No problem in the car. Authorized Service Center often inflates the service bills. They have told. Indica Vista - list of Known problems. I have been getting very poor mileage in my Vista Quadrajet. I have the same problem on my Indica Vista.

Vista owners, kindly share your experiences on the problems faced and rectified in Vista. These are the problems I'm facing in my Vista Aqua QJ after the first service.

There is a big thud noise in the front left side and at the rear side when the car descends from a speed breaker. The noise in the front is also heard when it enters a pothole at 25kmph. I checked the rear wooden parcel tray, it was intact. The clutch pedal have also become bit harder now.

Steering is not getting auto centered after turning. What could be the reasons? Bad Luck Sam.

Is it QJ or TDI? My sister's Vista QJ Aura had clocked 16000km approx, no major issues till now.

Yes it had small problems initially due to poor PDI by the dealer. After the second service at another TASC, no problems till now. Engine seems to be very smooth. It is a pleasure driving QJ. Looking at the performance I went for Vista QJ Aqua.

Power window switch problem was there initially, rectified by changing the switch under warranty. I think many of the cars in the initial lot had these problem.

The problem of opening the door from inside was there in both the cars. Seems like there is an adjustment behind the door pads.

TASC people rectified it within 5 minutes. So it is not a major issue. Posted by Sam Hey somebody is deleting my reply,i have replied to this post with problem of my vista, now it is not there, what s happening? It's me who deleted all your posts - not once but 3-4 times. Each time you posted it all over. If you wish to share/discuss, do it in the manner it is supposed to be - like others do. Also do not write in CAPITAL letters.

Honesty is not a Spare Wheel that you pull out when in trouble. It's a Steering Wheel that keeps you on the right path throughout the life's journey.

Did 30,000 service at focuz Trivandrum. Oil change, air filter change, top up for other oils and battery. Other periodic checks done. Cost:- 3940 INR The service advisor tod that for QJD s the tyre wear is more the max life is 40,000 kms is that correct? Fellow QJD (old/refresh/new) owners whats your tyre milage? Also own a 2009 Dec Vista QJD. Goodyear GT-3 Tyres gone at around 25000kms one was destroyed due to side wall crack.

New Bridgestone(S322) tyres also showing uneven wear and I am busy doing wheel alignment every 1500-2000kms. Concorde,Ernakulam does not have a clue and they say everything is OK! Regarding AC cooling, I am facing this issue of insufficient cooling from day one. Cooling is not effective even with blower put at 4th position. It barely throws some cool air to front row passengers.

Back seat passengers and passenger cabin bears the summer heat especially after sunfilm removed. My car got Behr make compressor I think while newer models got 'Subros' make IINM. Is that a reason?

Desperately needs a solution to this AC cooling issue. Tata service of course cannot help me as it was for the past 3 years. The service advisor tod that for QJD s the tyre wear is more the max life is 40,000 kms is that correct?

Fellow QJD (old/refresh/new) owners whats your tyre milage? This was told to me by a few Tyre dealers. They did not have anything against the car. They were saying that the stock Goodyear tyres dont last more than 25k.

In 28 months, I have completed 35k (with some drive on rough terrains) but I have not noticed any drastic reduction in tread. Tyres look good to go for another 10k at least. I have got varied opinions from different dealers and have decided to stick to these stock tyres till 40k at least. My Vista QJD Aura is Oct 2008 model. Stock tyres Good Year GT3 lasted 54K. There was another 5 K possible as per tyre dealer. He told me if iam driving in city, i could continue for another 5 K.

But i have changed as i was due for a long drive In this period car has made several trips across AP, TN, KA, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya pradesh One tyre damaged as i have driven a KM or so in punctured state in mid May at more than 45 C. This happened at 44K Stock wiper blades lasted 52K Break pads 54K All the bulbs/electricals are fine till now(69K) Problems faced are Loss of power around 2K RPM. ( solved at 62K, Cylinder head gasket changed along with some valves) In sufficient AC. This more of design problem as AC compressor capacity is small ( 1) Thanks. Reposting this here again so that I could get more particular info from Vista owners: I own a Indica Vista TDI March 2009 model which has been driven 17k kms till now.

Problem1: I have problem engaging 1st gear especially while downshifting. It becomes quite hard and difficult to engage especially when the speeds are a little bit high (not so high that should not be engaged). I had this problem from past many kms but the frequency of sudden hardshifts have started increasing.

This hardshift doesnot occur always but occurs randomly. And this randomness has started increasing.

Sometimes even gear clashes occur and the gear cannot be engaged but then its again sometimes. TASC told me that might be I am not depressing the clutch fully while engaging 1st gear. But I dont feel so. If I dont depress the clutch fully then I should be having problems in other gears also. Problem 2: In 4th and 5th gears at speeds above 70 kmph if the engine rpm goes below 2000 rpm the gear lever starts rattling and makes irritating noise. If I hold it the noise stops but I can feel the vibrations in the Gear lever.

Earlier I thought this was engine lugging but I am above 70kmph in 5th gear and accelerating fast ie. Not putting load on the engine.

The remedy is I slot it to 4th raise the rpms above 2200 rpm and then shift to 5th and it stops for some temporary time. Following are the ways I plan to resolve the problem. I have an extended warranty valid till 20th March. Can I utilize the same for this problem at TASC?

I have defaulted on not changing the Gearbox oil as per the time schedule (not as per the no. Of kms driven). Can they dishonour my extended warranty? I fear the TASC capabilities and especially because my gearbox otherwise works fine for all other gears, I dont want them to screw the gearbox more. I dont want to loose on the company fit assembly quality. Other way could be I show it to a reputed mechanic and get its opinion without opening the gearbox.

Technically what could be the reasons for this random hard shifting and sometimes even to the extent of clashing. Sometimes when clashing occurs I feel I might be also at fault for leaving clutch early before 1st gear getting engaged fully. Normally the clashing occurs when the synchronizer is not properly centralized or the synchro friction material is worn over. But I dont feel that it can occur for only 17k kms run vehicle. If I pull the clutch pedal in the opposite direction of travel while disengaging it can be raised around 15-20mm. Does this mean it has excessive free play?

Can this also cause hard shifting? Mods: Please delete this post if reposting here is not allowed. Following are the ways I plan to resolve the problem.

And disappears after service. For your 2nd query: Since you are from Mumbai - I strongly suggest meeting Mr. Javed Shaikh. Here Tata Car Repair & Service Centre Board line number: 022 - 67400400 For appointments 09 / 4410. Address: Off Dr. Moses Road, Worli Naka, Worli Mumbai, MH 400018, India (The 1st left after the Toyota Showroom, after you take the left into the narrow lane just 125 meters - on your left hand side. You may miss the Tata board, but you WILL not miss the Jaguar & Land Rover boards) Very close to the 4 Season's Hotel ( 1) Thanks.

I actually belong to Mumbai but last year I permanently shifted to Pune due to my Job. I need to update my Team-bhp Profile.

Anyway I do travel to Mumbai sometimes, so if I am there I will make it a point to visit the place you mentioned. Again Thanks a lot for all your help! Around Pune - Highly recommended - Hundekari Motors - they have 4 major service centers between Pune - Ahmednagar - Shirdi - Aurangabad. Specifically ask for Mr. Tanveer Baig if you visit there. Sorry, your location in your profile read Mumbai - hence recommended TCRS. Update: The last time I had the problem of Gear level rattling when the Engine was under load especially above 70kmph speeds in fifth gear was when I was returning from Bangalore to Pune. I was also having the problem of engine making lot of noises when I used to start from still in 1st gear - a rattling noise use to come whenever the engine was loaded.

I had told the TASC to sort it out during the service but they did not. One fine day I got irritated and I opened the bonnet (proves how lazy I am ) to find that a pipe behind the intercooler was dangling in air with its bracket separated from its mounting point on the chassis firewall. The nut holding the bolt had fallen off and so the pipe would vibrate hard touching the chassis and then the intercooler back side making all that wierd noises. So I just put the nut and tightened it and it solved the engine noise problem, but I was thinking that still the gear lever rattling noise is there because I never got to test it on free highway like the Pune-Bangalore highway. Today as my extended warranty period is nearing its end I approached two TASC'S and tried replicating the noise on Ahmednagar highway but I could not do it to the same level it was earlier. So I conclude now that the dangling noise used to vibrate whenever the engine was loaded and perhaps I used to feel that the noise was coming from the lever. But still this doesnot explain the pulsating vibrations I used to feel at the Gear lever.

Now the problem is solved or either I couldnot replicate it properly due to the heavy traffic on highway. So I am assuming that the nut solved the problem and I need not do anything further! One more problem the mechanic identified was that there was a huge humming noise in my car.

I used to feel kat-kat noise sometimes but not humming. So we jacked up the car only to realise that there is really a humming noise coming from the Rear right wheel. Although there is no play in the wheel neither it is jammed but certainly the humming noise is there.Mechanic advised me to replace the wheel bearing. I blame that night when I was learning to drive and I had driven my car for 25 kms with the hand brake on! The wheels were red hot!

And it led to the Grease packed bearings to leak the grease out of the bearings. It seems that there is no way these bearings can be again lubricated.

So the early failure of bearing at just 17k kms. TASC has given me a estimate of 1400 Rs to replace the bearing which I would be going ahead in the coming days. Hi Satish, I had the same problem during my 5K service and told the Service Advisor about it. He said he will try to fix the same. If not I can take the car to Somajiguda at the Blaupunkt centre and they will fix it free for us. However the problem has not cropped up after the reset.

Two solutions to this that I could find. 1: If you use a USB. If yes, get it scanned for viruses. Got the viruses removed and therefore the problem seems to have resolved. Delete all active connections from the Bluetooth of your phone and this might help you to some extent. Hi skumare & gauravdgr8 Me & my younger brother both are Tata & HTC fans. Navisworks jetstream v5 with crack. I am a proud owner of a Manza & HTC Desire S mobile and my younger brother owns a Vista VX & HTC Sensation XE mobile.

Now we both have faced this situation. I tried to pair my brothers phone to my car and the stereo worked just fine. If it would have been the fault of the stereo then it would have reset after pairing with my brothers phone. Please follow these steps. Hope it helps. Step 1: Try deleting the pairing from both Phone & the Car stereo. In case it fails proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Backup the SMS on your your phone using SMS backup and Restore by Ritesh Sahu ( free from Play Store) and perform a Factory Reset on your phone. I know you dont want to do the reset on phone but their is no harm anyway. Moreover your contacts would be synced to your Gmail a/c if you have enabled the contact Sync on your phone.

So don't worry about the contacts. Regards ( ) Thanks. I own a 2009 Vista quadrajet with 54000 kms on the odo. Get it serviced at regular intervals and take care of any minor niggles/ issues promptly.

I have been getting an average of 15-16 kmpl in city driving conditions steadily, but on a recent road trip of around 800 kms the average dropped to a meager 14-15 kmpl. The drive for at least 500-600 kms was on butter smooth road from Hyd-vijaywayda and 200-300 kms of not so good roads. I got the 50k servicing done recently, wheel alignment & rotation done at 52k etc. Not sure the reason for such poor mileage with the recent run.

Forgot to mention that on an earlier trip to Bangalore I got an average of 19-20 kmpl, Surprised why the mileage dropped despite the recent service, alignment and ensuring proper maintenance. I wanted to share my experience of the Vista over 37k KMs.

Indica Vista Quadrajet Mileage Diesel

It actually might sound a little OT on this thread, but still. I have not faced a single issue with my Vista till date, except the power window switch changed under warranty within the first 2 months. The car has been running like a dream with FE around 13-14 kmpl. Mind you, mine is Vista Safire (petrol 1.2 65 hp). I have been very particular about wheel alignment, wheel rotation & oil change and general servicing till date. I am a regular customer at 3M for all sorts of washes and treatments, inside & outside.

I am not blowing my own trumpet, but just wanted to say that Tata products are not as bad as they are perceived to be in India. If you take all the right care, the product serves you really well. So have faith in Tata and enjoy the product as much as you can. Here's a recent pic of my Vista.
